The Information Rights Management (IRM) Services extend the security and access controls on content (documents , eMails, etc.) beyond the repository. The IRM policy server is the main component of the IRM Services. This server establihes the polices by which the content can be opened, displayed, printed and further distributed outside the repository. The content is secured via encryption before leaving the Document Content Server. IRM Services then controls the process by which the content is decrypted and made accessible to recipients. The policy server verifies the user’s identity trough its own authentication mechanism.
